Can you
believe that Chennai is the most visited cities in India? It is often described
by various epithets, prominent among them being “the hub of South India” and
the “Detroit of India”. The amazing blend of culture and modernism has made
Chennai a fabulous destination for the foreigners. Can you expect to see the
burial site of an Apostle in India? Yes, you can see not just a burial site,
but also a church dedicated to St. Thomas who was martyred while propagating
the messages of Jesus Christ two millennia ago.
There can be
a number of surprises for the tourists visiting the city for the first time. For
example, how many are aware of the fact that Chennai is home to one of the
world’s longest urban beaches? Besides, it is widely hailed as the center of
the cultural influx that this part of the country has ever witnessed. It is
indeed the best city to have insights into the various aspects of South India’s
culture, cuisine, music, art and dance. Need deals for cheap Chennai flights?
You must see the website of Hoodaki, a well-known travel company and discount

Here are four
reasons that we were talking about. You agree that they are among the most
prominent considerations while choosing Chennai for holidays.
- Spiritual Landmarks: Chennai is home to a number of temples and churches. The Parthasarathy Temple is one of the most visited temples in the city. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna, and is believed to be the oldest temple here. Kapaleshvara is another temple exemplifying the unique Dravidian architecture. Located close to it is the mount on which St. Thomas is believed to have been martyred. There exists the Basilica of San Thome on the mount today. Some of the oldest churches can be found out in Mylapore.
- Colonial Heritage: Why not take a Heritage Walk to enjoy many ancient sites as well as buildings built by the colonial rulers. For example, with such a walk, you won’t fail to notice the Luz Church built by the Portuguese. Similarly, you can see 400 year old Fort Saint George and a number of other historical places. Travelers taking London to Chennai flights must take tours to visit places like Government Museum, Ripon Building, the Church of Our Lady of Light, Armenian Church and Radisson Blu City Center.
- Fun and Amusement: Do you know Marina Beach is one of the longest urban beaches in the world. The easily accessible beach is crowded with people, which adds an exotic charm to the lively atmosphere. Enjoy games, food and the frolic around, and have the best time here. If you come in the early morning, you might get the chance to see the launch of hundreds of fishing boats. Travelers with kids can find here many thrilling theme parks, some of which are available at affordable rates.
- Shopping: Families on holidays can go shopping and have the best moments here. Book flights to Chennai for world-class shopping at affordable prices. Spencer Plaza is the largest shopping destination in South India. There can be a number of other malls and shopping areas as well.
